UKERC Marine (Wave and Tidal Current) Renewable Energy Technology Roadmap
UKERC Marine (Wave and Tidal Current) Renewable Energy Technology Roadmap was released by UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) and led by the Policy and Innovation Group in 2008 and provides a guide for achieving 2GW installed capacity of wave and tidal energy in UK by 2020. Although the roadmap takes into account complex interactions between commercial, political and technical aspects, it focuses on the technical aspects of deploying ocean energy. It also includes other considerations, such as environmental and policy issues.
UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) is funded by The Research Councils' Energy Programme and is the main body in the UK carrying out research in sustainable energy. It works with the UK and international energy communities and its research informs UK policy developers. UKERC has the headquarters in Imperial College, London and provides support to 30 universities and research institutions in the UK. UKERC promotes knowledge exchange and provides information about the most up-to-date challenges the UK energy industry faces. The Policy and Innovation Group leads the overall management of low carbon roadmaps including marine roadmaps and landscapes documents within this programme. UKERC research atlas can be found following the link. |
