LEANWIND
LEANWIND is a 4-year project that started in December 2013, led by the University College Cork (UCC) and has a 31-partner consortium.
The primary LEANWIND objective is to provide cost reductions across the offshore wind farm lifecycle and supply chain as well as the development of state of the art technologies and tools. The project aims to ensure this by adopting 'Lean principles' which are used by many industries to optimise their production process. LEANWIND will attempt to find efficiencies at each critical stage and remove unnecessarily complex or wasteful stages. It will also ensure that the flow between stages is streamlined and thus time and cost efficiency is improved.
WP8 aims at ensuring that LEANWIND contributes to the implementation of the roadmap activities in Europe. WP8 also considers policy requirements to facilitate the uptake of innovation developed within the project. This package focuses on finance and economics, infrastructure, regulation and legislation.
The Policy and Innovation Group led the strategy planning work within Work Package 8 (WP8) in the project.
