The Protocol is designed to ensure the capture of data that will subsequently allow the varying power generated by wave energy devices to be considered in the context of the corresponding sea condit ions. The Preliminary Wave Energy Device Performance Protocol (Protocol) is addressed to
developers (participants) of wave energy generating stations (facilities) that have or expect to have grants with the DTI under the Wave and Tidal-stream Energy Demonstration Scheme (Scheme). Such wave energy facilities will consist of arrays of independent wave energy converters (devices) that supply electricity to the network via a single grid supply-point. Under the Scheme, all or some of the devices within a particular participant’s facility constitute an Eligible Facility. In the context of this document , for clarity the term Project is used synonymously.
